50 acts that you won't believe played Oxegen in 2011
WHEN YOU LOOK at the lineup for Oxegen 2011, it’s nearly impossible to believe that 3-day tickets cost just €199.
Friday’s Main Stage was graced by:
1. The Black Eyed Peas
Doug Peters / EMPICS Entertainment Doug Peters / EMPICS Entertainment / EMPICS Entertainment
They’d still be a pretty decent headline act today.
2. The Script – evidence that this was actually 2011.
3. My Chemical Romance – Were any of their fans even old enough to go see them at Oxegen in 2011?
4. Weezer, who said they’d like to see Ireland again “soon”.
It’s been six years and they’ve yet to return.
4. All Time Low - Once again, surely none of their fans were old enough to go?
5. The Blackout - This was an Oxegen lineup arranged for no reason other than to torture young people who read Kerrang! religiously.
6. Fun Lovin’ Criminals - OK, this one’s easy to believe.
The Saturday of the festival had some pretty big names too:
7. Foo Fighters

8. Arctic Monkeys - Their name on a festival bill in 2017 would be a pretty big deal.
9. Beady Eye - Even Liam Gallagher made an appearance at Oxegen 2011.
10. Two Door Cinema Club - Since 2011, they broke up, got back together disguised as a cover band of themselves called Tudor Cinema Club and surprised a lot of fans.
At this stage, anyone who went had definitely gotten their money’s worth of headliners. But as always, the biggest acts are saved for Sunday.
11. Beyoncé performed.

Coachella couldn’t even secure Beyoncé this year. Jay Z had played the year before and must have recommended the Punchestown festival to Beyoncé.
12. Coldplay - People were paying a lot more than €200 to go see Coldplay in Croke Park this summer.
13. Slash - They had something for everyone.
14. Manic Street Preachers - Another act that appeals to dads.
15. Kesha - Another artist we haven’t seen since 2011.
16. The Rubberbandits - Horse Outside took them very far.
The other stages had pretty big names too. For example, the Vodafone stage hosted these acts over the weekend:
17. The Strokes
18. Swedish House Mafia
19. Tinie Tempah
20. House of Pain
21. The Original Rudeboys – haven’t heard that name in a while.
22. Paulo Nutini
David Jensen David Jensen
23. Deadmau5
24. Imelda May
25. Bruno Mars
26. The National
Utrecht Robin Utrecht Robin
27. Jimmy Eat World
28. Pendulum
The Heineken ‘Green Spheres’ stage also had some pretty big names.
29. Calvin Harris
Joe Giddens Joe Giddens
30. Brandon Flowers
31. The Vaccines
32. Professor Green
33. Crystal Castles
34. Primal Scream
35. OFWGKTA
Empics Entertainment Empics Entertainment
36. The Saturdays
37. Chase and Status
Similarly, the 2fm Hotpress Academy hosted loads of acts that we’d all be happy to see as headliners at a festival in 2018.
38. The Naked and Famous

39. Metronomy
40. Tame Impala
41. Glasvegas
42. Noah and the Whale
43. City and Colour

Red Bull’s stage really didn’t disappoint either.

47. Tiga
48. Diplo
49. Sven Vath
50. Afrojack
How did anyone ever complain about Oxegen?
